Developing a script writin helper

2 posts in this topic

Hey all. I am new here, and fairly new to scripting period, but I want to give Autoit a shot. Please read and interject ideas at any point - either with how I am approaching the problem or technical aspects. I have read all of the docs, but only written the two scripts that are in the examples....

My plan with this thread is to develop a script that will help me write more scripts. I want to write scripts for World of Warcraft that automate certain gameplay aspects. In order to do this certain types of data is required for each script. So I want to build a script that will quickly let me gather the data I need to incorporate into the scripts.

Here is the steps I think I need to take.

1. A box that will stay on top of a maximized WoW window even when I click on the WoW window.

2. When I left click a place on the screen it displays the value for the following variables:

-pixel location

-picel color

-pixel checksum for a box around the cursor (don't know the size of box yet)

-other stuff I don't know about yet but will probably need.

First step for me is to write the box script. I think the right tool for this is GUIcreate. I will start workin on this and post a reply with my first cut. In the mean time ifyou have any suggestions or want to help out please post.

Ok see you in a couple hours with my results.
