Correct syntax to press {DOWN} as often as in $rem?

I've done a calculation that has the amount "15" as a remainder as an integer. So I need to press ALT+down 15 times.

Usually I would use

Send ("+{DOWN 15}")

but since I don't know from the start how many keypresses it will be I'd like to use a variable. However

Send ("+{DOWN ($rem)}")

Send ("+{DOWN $rem}")

do not seem to work. How do I do this? TIA!
