Detect joystick when plugged in?

4 posts in this topic

Hi i'm looking for a way to detect a joystick (in particular it's the Logitech RumblePad II USB)

the idea is to run a game with preloaded settings

so if the joystick isn't plugged in, it loads the keyboard settings

but if the joystick is plugged in, it loads the joystick settings

any way to check if a joystick is connected to the system?

Hi,

sorry for pointing that out, but I think having a script running all the time to check whether a joystick is plugged in and then start a game is not the best soultion.

Is there any other point behind it?

If not, I would start the script when needed after the pad has been plugged in. :lmao:

no no here's the thing

the script runs when you start the game

so when you want to play, you start the script to detect if a joystick is plugged in or not, and then it loads the keyboard or joystick settings and then it starts the game

Probably the best place to start is by reading the MSDN technical information on joysticks. There is an entire set of API calls for dealing with joysticks.
