TCP headache. Trying to create server and client side apps, in oder to remote shutdown a computer

The helpfiles are really thin on this topic. I tried to figure out what I was doing wrong on my own, but I now have to stop wasting my time cause I have no clue. Hopefully all I ask for here is one minute from your time to spot the problem.

Except the comments regarding the script, I'd like to ask a few other questions related to this

How do I close a port ? Or a connection ?

Can I send data backwards ( to the initiator of an incoming connection) ?

Comments regarding security issues are also more than welcome.

Whoops. Sleep ("500") ?! I guess that's what happens when you get lost between flawed examples and incomplete examples about TCP. This thread Tcp explained finally put an end to this.

Why not just use shutdown? shutdown targetcomputer parameters, etc...

Hurray. You'd save me hours of coding, probably, eventhough I'd most likely adapt things a bit. Use the method that's easier for you. Thank you very much in advance.

I don't know. Is that some windows command ? Never heard of it. If it is, that remote computer should "open up" to receive such commands, and I'm not sure I want to do that. Also... I want to be able to cancel the command and I want to be able to set the remote pc into hibernation sometimes.

Anyhow, with all these examples, I should be able by now to put things together, if I only had the time... the only issue left is: I really don't want to dig a hole into that systems security with my program, as this won't be used for a private network, but over the internet. As you see in the code probably, I tried to take some very rudimentary and most likely inefficient and useless preventive mesures to prevent bad things from happening.

Is there a general thread about networking security somewhere by any chance ?
