Find the path from a lnk

Recommended Posts

Curious,

Trying to do a silent uninstall of TuneUp Utilities 2003, 2004 and 2006 prior to an installation of 2007. The only described method of removing the software is through the control panel. However, is there a way to get the path from the uninstall shortcut so I can append a /q to the end?

I'm not entirely sure how to go about that process. The only other option is to determin what the CLSID of the application is so I can do "msiexec.exe /I {CLSID} /q" but that might be a harder process.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Chris

Thank you so much (both of you). Here is what I have come up with. Let me know if there is a better way to do this.

Dim $remove[2]
    Local $details
    Local $t

    $remove[0] = @ProgramsCommonDir & "\TuneUp Utilities 2004\Uninstall TuneUp Utilities 2004.lnk"
    $remove[1] = @ProgramsCommonDir & "\TuneUp Utilities 2006\Uninstall TuneUp Utilities 2006.lnk"

    For $t = 0 To 1
        If FileExists($remove[$t]) Then
            SplashTextOn("", "Uninstalling" & @CRLF & StringTrimRight(StringTrimLeft($remove[$t], StringLen($remove[$t]) - 25), 4), 250, 100, -1, -1, 33, "", 16)
            $details = FileGetShortcut($remove[$t])
            $details[2] = $details[0] & StringReplace($details[2], "/I", " /qn /x", 1, 1)

            RunWait($details[2], "", @SW_HIDE)
        EndIf
    Next
