What script did you tried?

DirCopy("C:\My Documents", "C:\Backups\MyDocs", 1)

this should work.

EDIT: Follow rules from sticky post

ok sorry. missed the rules. I expect it to make a directory called C:\Backups\MyDocs" . There is no directory created. I am using v3.2.8.0. The snippet looks exactly like yours.

DirCopy("C:\My Documents", "C:\Backups\MyDocs", 1)

This code, completely alone, does nothing.

It should work fine with

DirCopy(@MyDocumentsDir, "C:\Backups|MyDocs" 1)

Because you probably don't have a C:\My Documents folder. That Help file example is from the old Win 98 days and really should be updated.

alright. thanks GEOSoft. I was having troubles and tried the example, when that didn't work... well nice job. i dont know how to delete my own topics, if I have that capability.

No need to delete the post. It's still good info for others.

ALSO.............

It's best to check if a folder (or file) exists before you attempt to copy it.

If FileExists("C:\My Documents") Then
   DirCopy("C:\My Documents", C:\Backups\My Docs")
Else
MsgBox ( 262144, 'File Error', 'The source directory does not exist')
EndIf
