How to check if system items exists on desktop?

Hi all,

I am trying to check if certain item exists (wich is a system element such as My Computer, My Documents etc.) on the desktop..

For example, i have this list:

My Computer|My Documents|Recycle Bin|Internet Explorer

Now i need to check if one of these elements are not on the desktop anymore (say user just deleted one element - My Documents).

Is it possible? i tryed search in the registry, but it seems that there is no particular info about the items on the desktop (with the reall used names of these items) - i hope i wrong ...

Thats all i could really find... To hide change the dword to "00000001"

I take it you understand that registry tweaks can render your system unstable, and I take no responsibilty for anything that happens if you muck it up. Or something like that. Basically, use at your own risk!

Thats a start, thanks a lot!

Now i need to figure out what name used for each those elements - for example, in my system element My Computer named as Мой компьютер (russian), and i need to find where in the registry stored this information... and also there is need to compare this name with classid, so i can check if this particular item is on desktop (using RegRead() and checking the dword values).
