photonbuddy
Hi All, I'd like to be able to create a window in a script, and then have that window remain when the script exits. Is there any way to do this, or does AutoIT force the windoe to close on exit?
The Ape
You can only make it appear as if it were independently still open. Look into creating multiple guis and setting parent... or, simply showing/hiding and enabling/disabling multiple guis. Or, if you're talking about compiled apps, you could easily just create independent windows (independent executables). photonbuddy
Sure, when it exits it close all That's a bit dissapointing ...Guess I'll try and find another way to do it.
Richard Robertson
If I am understanding this correctly, no you cannot do this. When you create a window, it MUST have a window function. This function MUST reside in memory either in a RUNNING application (your script) or a shared dll (which is obviously not the case).
DirtDBaK
you have to have you're script running for the window to still exist, however you do not have to have your script actively doing something besides looping, or sleeping therefore it doesn't do anything when the user tries to use a control. Give us an example of what you would use this for. Why would you need a GUI open if there is no script running?? this would just be idle and show your window. Should take no cpu. GuiSetState($hWnd, @SW_Show ) While 1 Sleep(1000) Wend good luck
