Arrays... 2D and 3D

5 posts in this topic

Hey, I'm having a hell of a time with preassigning values to an array.

Here's what I want to do:

$choice[2][2] = ([("a","b"),("c","d")])

and

$choice[2][3] = ([("a",1,1),("c",0,1)])

I mean, it seems like a simple thing, but I just don't know how. I tried that _ArrayCreate version, but see no examples for 2D, and my attempts all failed.

So, can anyone help?

You need square brackets around the entire assignment, and inside that, square brackets around each ROW's worth of data:

#include <array.au3> ; only for _ArrayDisplay

Global $choice[3][2] = [["0-0", "0-1"], ["1-0","1-1"], ["2-0","2-1"]]
_ArrayDisplay($choice, "Test: $choice")

:D

P.S. The assignment requires a declaration keyword DIM, LOCAL, or GLOBAL, too... :P

Thanks so much.. I knew it was somethign simple. Kept looking up Array in help - only the UDF stuff would show up. Dim is what i need I think.

You also need to be aware of how PsaltyDS wrote the line. You used "(" & ")" where he (properly) used "[" & "]"
