Have a txt file with the newest version info on your server, then use inetget() to download it, fileread() to read the version inside and compare with the user's ones, if it's different, then go update

How would I go about adding the option of checking for an update that is on my website, without using IE functions?

Have a look at the InetFileUpdate.au3 script in my siggy - it may help you.
