Regex finding exclusive figures

I was really just pointing out that it seems people see us using StringRegExp() on a fairly regular basis so they think that it's the solution to all string related situations. I think many of us (myself included) have the tendency to overuse them. Of course that's justified by it being the newest toy in the toybox and ever since we were toddlers that's the one we wanted to play with. Some of us just never get past that stage. I know that, personally, I think StringRegEx before I think in terms of String*() functions. It's only after I've done something that I realize I could have done it easily with String*(), but of course there is no turning back at that point.

Hi,

yes, GEOSoft you are absolutely right. String functions are very fast.

RegExp ist not always the best choice, but it makes fun :-)

Maybe there should be another point mentioned here.

It would be much easier to get the tasks done, when people who ask for a regex just give a few examples of the string before and what should match or not.

Hi guys

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I did not realise the you could do so much with StringRegExp and in the end it was Authenticity that had the pattern I was looking for, subject to testing of course.

Its just hard sometimes to follow what is says in the help file to the explanation of the matching characters.

Anyway, hopefully the more working code I have the more my understanding of the language will grow.
