reading uploaded files

4 posts in this topic

ok i have run into a little problem. i want my programm to read a ini file that is uploaded to my site.

so i did a simple test to see if it is reading the ini file

with

$Charactername = IniRead("HTTP://******/configuration.ini", "CharName", "Name", "Notfound")
MsgBox(0, "charname", "Charname" & $Charactername)

so im guessing i cant simply put the url in the file location. can anyone help me get it to read the inifile

thankyou

InetGet("http://www.URL.com/What.ini",@ScriptDir & "\What.ini")
$Charactername = IniRead(@Scriptdir & "\What.ini", "CharName", "Name", "Notfound")

If your not wanting to have the physical file on disk, there is a UDF around here on the forums for loading files from memory... Not sure if that would work on an INI like that though...

IniRead() is expecting the file to exist either on the local machine or on a network share.

I would use InetGet() to download the file into a local temp directory then use IniRead() from there.

Helpful tips:If you want better answers to your questions, take the time to reproduce your issue in a small "stand alone" example script whenever possible. Also, make sure you tell us 1) what you tried, 2) what you expected to happen, and 3) what happened instead.Useful links:BrettF's update to LxP's "How to AutoIt" pdfValuater's Autoit 1-2-3 Download page for the latest versions of Autoit and SciTE
<glyph> For example - if you came in here asking "how do I use a jackhammer" we might ask "why do you need to use a jackhammer"<glyph> If the answer to the latter question is "to knock my grandmother's head off to let out the evil spirits that gave her cancer", then maybe the problem is actually unrelated to jackhammers
