Add/Enable/Disable Windows Firewall Exceptions

Recommended Posts

A handy little object snippet to Add/Enable/Disable firewall exceptions. It's funny how useful these little things turn out to be.:)

#RequireAdmin

;Add/Enable/Disable Firewall Exception
Func _FirewallException($_intEnableDisable, $_appName, $_applicationFullPath)
    $Firewall = ObjCreate("HNetCfg.FwMgr")
    $Policy = $Firewall.LocalPolicy
    $Profile = $Policy.GetProfileByType(1)
    $colApplications = $Profile.AuthorizedApplications
    $newApplication = ObjCreate("HNetCfg.FwAuthorizedApplication")
    $newApplication.Name = $_appName
    $newApplication.IpVersion = 2
    $newApplication.ProcessImageFileName = $_applicationFullPath
    $newApplication.RemoteAddresses = "*"
    $newApplication.Scope = 0
    $newApplication.Enabled = $_intEnableDisable
    $colApplications.Add($newApplication)
EndFunc   ;==>_FirewallException

;Example usage ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

;Example block Autoit
_FirewallException(0, "Autoit", @AutoItExe)

;Example allow Autoit
_FirewallException(1, "Autoit", @AutoItExe)

I only tested with windows 7, perhaps i should have stated so in my first post. Does it add it to the list? Check in control panel>firewall

It's not just you :), Vista Sp1.

Can you be so kind as to tell me what goes wrong? Is it enabled/disabled in the firewall settings in control panel?
