Listview column resize + WM_NOTIFY + Run(@Comspec = result crash

8 posts in this topic

I am getting my script crashed if I use functions like WM_NOTIFY for listview + cmd function + reading it when resizing the listview column. While this example script is running, try to resize listview's column, hold on the column size-bar for some time, resize both, forward and backward, you'll see that the script will crash. Why is that?

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <GuiListView.au3>
#include <Constants.au3>
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 500, 400)
$List1 = GUICtrlCreateListView("col 1|col 2|col 3|col 4|col 5", 0, 0, 500, 400)
For $i = 0 to 4
_GUICtrlListView_SetColumnWidth($List1, $i, 95)
Next
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
GUIRegisterMsg($WM_NOTIFY, "WM_NOTIFY")
AdlibRegister("updatelist", 2000)

$nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
Switch $nMsg

Exit

For $i = 0 to Random(2, 4, 1)

The script isn't crashing it's getting stuck in the WM_NOTIFY function. Figure out what is causing it to lock up in there and then prevent it.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I did try, many things in my original script and when I failed I created this example script just to ask about this issue on forum. I'm clueless why is it halting in WM_NOTIFY..

dragan,

Have you tried disabling the random updates from the adlib? This may be colliding with the notification routine.

I need the updates, in my original script my list gets updated constantly, I just simulated those update via adlib in this example.

Maybe if I could block the resizing of columns? Could it be done? I've read that WM_NOTIFY could hook $HDN_BEGINTRACK and set _WinAPI_SetWindowLong to DWL_MSGRESULT (value = 0), but I wasn't successful:

...
Case $HDN_BEGINTRACK
    ConsoleWrite("I got it!"& @LF)
    _WinAPI_SetWindowLong($hWnd, 0, true);
    Return true
...

p.s. it's listview related, not header

dragan,

I show how to prevent ListView column resizing here. Plus if you only want to fix the size of specific columns then you can do so like this from later in the same thread. :)
