Consider, to enter the username in a page, first i have to select the text field, this can be done by using tab command in autoit. My question is Is it possible to select the text field by using the name assigned to the text field (eg) using "Username" or "Password"

A number of different ways based on the page (I'll have to assume you are talking about a web page) _IEGetObjByName() is the first that springs to mind.
