piginablanket Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I'm trying to use _WinAPI_ShellGetFileInfo to get the name of the file that contains the default icon for a given extension, but it always returns blank. The ConsoleWrite clearly shows that the function call is working though. Am I doing something wrong or does _WinAPI_ShellGetFileInfo just not work for retrieving the ICONLOCATION? #AutoIt3Wrapper_Au3Check_Parameters=-q -d -w 1 -w 2 -w 3 -w 4 -w 5 -w 6 -w 7 #include "WinAPI.au3" #include "WinAPIShellEx.au3" _Main() Func _Main() Local $t_SHFILEINFO = DllStructCreate($tagSHFILEINFO) _WinAPI_ShellGetFileInfo(".TXT", BitOR($SHGFI_TYPENAME, $SHGFI_ICONLOCATION, $SHGFI_USEFILEATTRIBUTES), $FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, $t_SHFILEINFO) ConsoleWrite(DllStructGetData($t_SHFILEINFO, 4) & "," & DllStructGetData($t_SHFILEINFO, 2) & @CRLF) ConsoleWrite(DllStructGetData($t_SHFILEINFO, 5) & @CRLF) EndFunc
BrewManNH Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Part of the problem probably lies in the fact that you're not specifying a file, just an extension. The first parameter has to be a file path and name that points to a file. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. LarsJ Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 The problem is SHGetFileInfo and the SHGFI_ICONLOCATION attribute. The function is simply not working properly with this attribute. Specifying a full file path will not help. Google "SHGetFileInfo SHGFI_ICONLOCATION" and you will get thousands of hits for exactly this issue.
