ok, wow.

this is proving to be rather difficult to just use websockets. isn't there an easier way? is there a udf for it or full support?

Not. at least using Autoit. the easier you can do is mix javascript+IE+Autoit.  or use some Libraries provided for. as C#,Python etc...

do you think autoit will fully support websockets in the future?

I know. You can do it using Autoit's TCP funtions. But when you deal with websockets you need some Async stuff and Autoit Is not the best for...

Yeah, @FireFox is probably one of the best autoit developers here. He seems to be gone, though :(

Well, Jon should add suport for it since websockets would be interesting to develop around in autoit.
