Once in a hundred runs winlist does not pick up a window it should

Recommended Posts

Hi, I use winlist to count the amount of instances of a specific window (in combination with a reg expression). Over multiple runs, it seems that it fails 1 in a hundred times more or less.                                   Any idea how/why? And are there alternatives to use as a backup/check?

JohnNash,

I am afraid my crystal ball is in for polishing today, so how about posting the code which you believe is failing so we can get some idea of what might be happening.

Haha, fair enough. The rambling seemed pretty clear in my head,  which it obviously isnt, reading it back.

So the code I use is as follows:

Local $InstancesList = WinList("[REGEXPTITLE:(?i)(.*Game1.*|.*Game2.*)]")

And then if this number changes, I know there is a new game, and do something. But once in a while I SEE a new window Game1 being opened but nothing happens.

So I added logs and printed the InstancesList and saw it did not pick up the new game.

Now I also added a WinList with Class to doublecheck, but still now and then it fails. So I was wondering if this is a known problem, and whether there are alternatives of workarounds.

JohnNash,

You appear not to have read the Forum rules since your arrival. Please do read them - particularly the bit about not discussing game interaction - before you post again and then you will understand why you will get no help and this thread will now be locked.
