I want to take a path with filename such as (C:\Program Files\test\temp\myfile.exe) and extract only the filename into a string.

well, this will get the filename from the end of any normal filepath

MsgBox(0, "File Name From Path", "Input: 'C:\Program Files\test\temp\myfile.exe'"& _
@CRLF&"Output: '"& _FileFromPath("C:\Program Files\test\temp\myfile.exe")&"'")

Func _FileFromPath($s_Path)
$Split = StringSplit($s_Path, "\")
Return $Split[$Split[0]]
EndFunc

Edit: Last second forum format

Why don't use RegExp, in this case it the best solution :whistle:...

StringRegExpReplace("C:\Program Files\test\temp\myfile.exe", '^.*\\', '')

Using OS: Win 7 Professional, Using AutoIt Ver(s): 3.3.6.1 / 3.3.8.1

For the record, I actually know about _PathSplit(). :whistle:

Just wouldn't include all the file udfs for only wanting the filename.
