need _guictrleditgetseltext()

4 posts in this topic

I need a function that will return the selected text from an edit box.

_guictrleditgetsel() will only return the start and end character positions

and I can't even use _stringbetween() in conjuction to get what I need because it requires the first and last characters, not their positions

any suggestions?

ControlSetText("Untitled -", "", "Edit1", "New Text Here" )

If Not WinActive($winhandle) Then WinActivate($winhandle)
ControlSend("Untitled -", "", "Edit1", "^a") ; select all

MsgBox(0,"",ControlCommand("Untitled - Notepad", "", "Edit1", "GetSelected", "")) ; get selected text

any suggestions?

Hi,

Try ControlCommand()...

#include <GuiConstants.au3>

$Gui = GuiCreate("Test")

$Edit = GUICtrlCreateEdit("Some Text", 20, 40, 120)

$GetSelectedButton = GUICtrlCreateButton("Get sel. text", 20, 250)

GUISetState()

While 1
    $Msg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $Msg
        Case -3
            Exit
        Case $GetSelectedButton
            ClipPut(ControlCommand($Gui, "", $Edit, "GetSelected", ""))
    EndSwitch
WEnd
