IE questions

5 posts in this topic

I have not messed around much with the IE functions yet, so I have a few questions before I dig too deep into this project.

Do the IE functions still work when a system is locked? (I'll need a plan B if the answer is 'no' there)

- are there some I need to stay away from if this will be the case?

Has someone done a tutorial of the IE functions yet? I certainly see enough questions to perhaps warrant one, or maybe a FAQ.

Do the IE functions still work when a system is locked?

No.

:P

P.S. Had to rethink that after a correction from MHz in another topic. If you don't need the browser window to become ACTIVE, you might still get things to work while the console is locked... Hmm... :D

Test script that PROVES I was wrong!

#include <IE.au3>

HotKeySet("{ESC}", "_Quit")

$oIE = _IECreate("about:blank")
SplashTextOn("IE Test", "You may lock the console to test IE operations...", 500, 100, @DesktopWidth - 600, 100)
While 1
    _IENavigate($oIE, "http://www.google.com")
    ConsoleWrite("Debug:  Loaded Google: " & @HOUR & @MIN & @SEC & @LF)
    Sleep(1000)
    _IENavigate($oIE, "http://www.autoitscript.com")
    ConsoleWrite("Debug:  Loaded AutoIt: " & @HOUR & @MIN & @SEC & @LF)
    Sleep(1000)
WEnd

Func _Quit()
    SplashOff()
    _IEQuit($oIE)
    Exit
EndFunc

Live and learn... :D

I really can't think of any of the core functions that would not work when locked - everything uses the COM API.

SciTe Debug mode - it's magic: #AutoIt3Wrapper_run_debug_mode=Y Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?
