search text in a file

hello,

i need to write a script that gets an Arguement(string) and search if it exists in a text file. if the string from the arg exists it should do X if not then do Y

the script gets an arg lets say ip and search in a text file if the first two numbers of the ip(172.54) matches the first two in the argument.

can you please help me with links to read or short examples, i read that i should use the $cmdline[]

but i dont realy understand how to use it.

I think the use of $CmdLine is described quite well in the help under "running scripts".

You can get the text from the file like this

$AllText = FileRead("filename.txt")

then you can see if certain strings are in the text like this

If StringInStr($AllText,$textToFind) <> 0 then
;it's there
else
;it isn't there
endif

What you mean wait? when the script is executed with arguments, you just do what you need, from the begining
