No threads specific to WinRAR that I recall off hand but WinRAR uses 7Zip as do several other compression programs.

Quote from the 7zip developer FAQ

There are other applications that use 7za.dll such as WinRAR, PowerArchiver and others.

I only see things for unraring archives in your sig..

what i want to do is create winrar archives with autoit and the rar.exe or what ever way is the simplest..

FileInstall ("path\7za.exe.")

Then read the Command line portion of the 7zip help file. Use .rar for the file extension, 7z for the compression and use the -srx switch to create the self extractor.

RAR archives can only be created with WinRAR / rar.exe. As far as i know, there is no other (legal) app or dll to do it.

For this reason you have to call the RAR.exe with ShellExecute(Wait) or Run(Wait)

So if i were to call the RAR.exe with ShellExecute(Wait) or Run(Wait) what would be the commands to archive a folder and the other commands to send to RAR.exe..??

i don' know. If you have Winrar there should be a help file for rar.exe (possibly as .txt)

they only seem to be CMD-DOS commands for RAR.EXE..

How would I Make AutoIt Pass those CMD-DOS commands then to the RAR.EXE..??

If you do have WinRAR, or more specifically Rar.exe (inside the WinRAR directory)

All you have to do is read this file (also in the WinRAR directory) to understand the commands.

$commands = "<command> [ -<switches> ] <archive> [ <@listfiles...> ] [ <files...> ] [ <path_to_extract\> ]"

run("rar.exe " & $commands)

Don't bother, It's inside your monitor!------GUISetOnEvent should behave more like HotKeySet()
