Func - No Matching End Function

6 posts in this topic

Is there a know bug that relays your function as not having a matching endfunction? My function is clearly structured...and has a closing endfun but when i try to run the script it says "no matching end func for func xyz. When i copied and pasted this function alone into its own au3. doc it works just fine, however within the full script it does not work!

Func Xyz()
    MsgBox("Settings","Settings", "You will be prompted with four coordinate setting windows, each requesting a different border of the target button. Press ok when
    ready to begin setup.")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Xpos_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Xpos2_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Ypos_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Ypos2_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
EndFunc

There is clearly an endfun at the end but within the full script it doesn't work. I have even deleted and re-written it and it still complains.

...will never learn all there is to know about autoit, no worries...i came to the forums :)

Make sure your "Xpos2_Xyz" Function is structured properly as well... If your MsgBox is multi-line inside your editor, that will cause problems in some situation as well... It is possible to receive errors from one function, even if the offending function is actually the one being called... I've experienced this first hand, although I don't know if AutoIt parses errors like that anymore...

Without the calling functions it can't work properly. Try to uncomment the Call one by one, and you will see what function triggers that error.

This is what happening in your script i suppose:

Func Xyz()
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Xpos_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Xpos2_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Ypos_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
    Call("Ypos2_Xyz")
    Sleep(100)
EndFunc

Func Ypos_Xyz()

EndFunc

Func Ypos2_Xyz()

EndFunc

Func Xpos_Xyz()

EndFunc

Func Xpos2_Xyz()

;EndFunc

Those Missing.... whatever errors are sometimes misleading. I could be any closing statement that is missing. look for missing EndIf, EndSwitch, EndSelect, Next, Wend.

Using Scite often makes it easier to spot then.

use scite and press ctrl + t to tidy the script it indents all of the code correctly unless a closing statment is missing, so then you can just find where the indentation is wrong and find the missing ending statment solving the problem add it in and press ctrl + t again.

Interpreters have great power!Although they live in the shadow of compiled programming languages an interpreter can do anything that a compiled language can do, you just have to code it right.

It was actually much more simpler than all of this. The function above this one "call" function was missing its closing, but the error message was reading as it being this function without a closer. Even using Scite it took me a bit to find what was actually right in front of my face, i was just mislead to look in the wrong area. Thanks for your help though everyone.
