Newbie Question - I can script connect to VPN and then connect to VOIP automatically but can I force disonnection from VPN when VOIP session finishes?

Recommended Posts

Hello forum

I am a total newbie to this but I can script with AutoIt connecting to the VPN and then running skype but what I want to do is subsequently force disconnection from the VPN if the user disconnects from skype.

The background to this is we live in the Middle East and our children are at school in UK. Calling them in either direction is ruinously expensive so we use Skype - no problems. But my Son's school network blocks skype so I want to use a VPN to bypass it. However I dont want to leave the VPN running so he can also use it to download porn, do filesharing etc!. I know any solution using scripting isnt going to be brilliantly secure (and while skype runs he can probably use the VPN to surf the net) but if I can make a reasonably slick connection - disconnection to skype script I think it will do the job.

So question is is there an event triggered by closing skype that I can use to force the VPN to disconnect?

Suggestions gratefully received!

Can you check if the process is running (Skype.exe?) and then if not force the disconnect?
