Acrobat OLE Attach to open window

3 posts in this topic

How do I attach to the active acrobat window and get it's javascript object? I know how to do this when i know the filename:

$oAcro = ObjCreate("acroexch.app")
$oPDF = ObjCreate("AcroExch.PDDoc")

$File = @ScriptDir&"\test.PDF"

$oPDF.Open($File)
$oJSpdf = $oPDF.getJSObject.app.opendoc($File)

But how would i do this if I didn't know $File? If I wanted to connect to the Active window instead?

what I know I can get is the handle of the window and the process ID... Is there a way I can get the OLE object of a process by Process ID?

Say we used something more familiar, like IE. If there was an IE window already running, and we had it's process ID, could we get It's OLE object and automate it?

Found it! Acrobat has something to help us

$oAcro = ObjCreate("acroexch.app")  ;Create acrobat object
;~ $oPDF = ObjCreate("AcroExch.PDDoc")
Do
    sleep(300)
    $oPDF = $oAcro.GetActiveDoc.GetPDDoc
Until $oPDF <> ""
$oJSpdf = $oPDF.getJSObject

$File = $oJSpdf.path

If anyone needs help with acrobat,.I'm getting pretty good at using it. Sad part is some things only work with pro version

      Hi,
since some days I become this error message exiting my app:

      Eventviewer shows following data:
Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: autoit3.exe, Version: 3.3.14.2, Zeitstempel: 0x55fc1979 Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: ntdll.dll, Version: 6.1.7601.23864, Zeitstempel: 0x595fa490 Ausnahmecode: 0xc000000d Fehleroffset: 0x000987e0 I stripped my code from 1500 lines down to 70:

EndIf EndFunc Do following steps to prove:
      - start app
      - click "next" on main gui
      - wait minimum 5 seconds (until the arrows left and right on "gui left" disappear)
      - close gui left or right
      - close main gui
      - look on console written "EXIT" the last code line before exit
      - now windows error message above appears
The funny thing is if I don't wait the 5 seconds (before the half transparent arrows disappear) closing the gui then I will get no win error message.
If I comment _AcrobatShow() out then the error never appears. So it seemed to be an acrobat reader issue. Every week at work there are a lot of updates, but there is no chance to know which one. But since one update this error happens.
      Any solutions? Regards, Conrad

I have a working script that changes the core affinity and process priority of multiples of a specific application I have running.
I have that part figured out.

I would like to make a little modification to it.

Windows10 introduced virtual desktops.  I am trying to have different core affinity and priority of processes on the visible and non-visible desktops.
What I need is a bool function that could be described as IsWindowOnCurrentDesktop($hWnd).  I have searched the winAPI.au3 but I do not believe anything like that exists built it.
I have searched multiple places before asking for help. I found a Microsoft supplied example of the function I need using C#, but I am unfamiliar with C# to a degree that I cannot port the system call over.
      https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/winsdk/2015/09/10/virtual-desktop-switching-in-windows-10/
Help is appreciated but not expected.  Thanks in advanced.   In the meantime I will be learning C# syntax and class structure.

I am BRAND new to Autoit......in fact, experiencing install problems....that is a whole different can of worms.
But I have several thousand PDF files,
I can manually use keyboard and mouse to open each file and "Optimize" it ( Acrobat internal function to compress by 5x+/-)
Then save the file with a modified name = original name &"O"
I'm hoping to develop an Autoit script to loop through each file in a folder and Optimize it/save it
      Has anybody done it already?

Is it possible to use WMI events, to monitor all the specific files of given filetype inside specific directory?

I'd find it very usefull to use simple WMI events to check for how often graphic designers in my graphic department use different illustrator .AI files.

Right now I am scanning folders using my own function and FileGetTime to check for any changes (last time accessed) and check for how usefull to us are files we have, but this is very limited.
I have to run my scrypt every single minut to get more-less accurate data, missing some of the events that already accured or unnecesarilly over-loading CPU.
      Thanks in advance.
