Isaak Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Hi guys, i've created an endless running script (intended) that modify the "new" clipboard with a string if the "old" clipboard contains a special string. The script should always run if my windows is running (therefore the while true infinite loop). Here it is: While True Exchange() WEnd Func Exchange() $clipboard = ClipGet() If ( StringLen($clipboard) >= 15 And StringLen($clipboard) <= 30 ) And ( StringLeft($clipboard, 4) = "1989" Or StringLeft($clipboard, 4) = "1990" ) Then ClipPut("Surprise, Surprise :)") Endif EndFunc But if I run the compiled exe, the CPU usage is extremly high (~50%) compared with other running big applications. How can I reduce the cpu footprint without change the functionality of my script? Maybe Sleep()? I'm a starter with autoit, so please don't be too hard with me
jguinch Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Add a sleep in your main loop : While True Exchange() Sleep(10) WEnd Reveal hidden contents Network configuration UDF, _DirGetSizeByExtension, _UninstallList Firefox ConfigurationArray multi-dimensions, Printer Management UDF
Isaak Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 But how much delay in sleep() is enough to ensure that every STRG+C in clipboard is checked with my script? sleep(1) wouldn't make sense (1 millisecond -> no cpu effect) and with sleep(1000) or sleep(5000) there would be a better cpu usage but the risk, that clipput() don't work immediately.
