autoit with compare text

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm newbie on AutoIt, I doing the practices with it and I had idea to cut off time on daily jobs such as below

1. Set auto start the autoit on Window Task Scheduler

 2. Open text file

Run('C:\Users\IO04\Desktop\test.txt')
_WinWaitActivate("test.txt - Notepad","")

3.check text file if text is ABC at
MouseMove(12,70)
MouseDown("left")
MouseMove(37,70)
MouseUp("left")

equal with ABC (hard code on AutoIT ) then process Close text file

else

Sleep(5000)

Endif

I dont know how to compare 2 strings from coordinate like this case. Pls advise

It's easier to read the file data and set to a variable. then compare the requiered text.

Then you're doing it wrong.

Global $aFileText = FileReadToArray(@ScriptDir & "\test.txt")
Global $iLines = @extended
For $I = 0 to $iLines
    If StringInStr($aFileText[$i], "DEF", 0) Then
        MsgBox(0, "Found it", $aFileText[$i])
    EndIf
Next

having AutoIt open the text file and read it is a hell of a lot better than trying to send the mouse around the screen to Notepad and hoping it's in the right place.

Thanks BrewManNH,

Your code is still read data file (closed file) instead of read data on text file that opened. If text file is opened so I can change value at that position such as: QWE or SDF to run/process another scripts, when I type ABC at that position, AutoIt will close the text file and stop the auto.

What are you trying to do with this file? Whatever it is, you probably don't need to open it in Notepad to do it.

Try thinking outside your box, automating notepad is a dead end road when you're talking about text files. It is a much better solution to do it without notepad, unless there's something you're doing in notepad that absolutely can't be done without it.
