Grid RPG TEST

Here is a simple test I made to see how I could make a grid RPG with tiles and how to load the next area when you go out a door (Move character to top left on checkered tile). Reason for the grid is it's real easy collision detection. I put some notes in the map file. Sorry for my bad art skills :D

I like it, reminds me of the tiled version of NetHack.

Make it so you can move the boulders!

thats really nice ! looks like the game i saw bevor about 2 years... looked like this :D

you could attack enemys by clicking "m" :D XD

This looks good, only problem I could find was upon entering the second area it wouldnt let me move straight down without first moving up. Other than that nice work.

Did you use an editor to make the map file or did you type 997 lines? In that case, what did you use, if you used something.

Looks like he used an editor. Or, he could have sat there for 2 hours and do it by hand?

Well I made this quick script to make all 30 X 30 tiles grass. Then I edited the ones that I wanted to have boulders and such manualy. Still took awhile even doing that :D

I would use an editor!

And to make games like this I would probably use Game Maker 6.

And to make games like this I would probably use Game Maker 6.

I started making a editor yesterday. I like Game Maker 6 except It's more fun (at least for me) to make it in AutoIt :D

This reminds me of RPG Maker XP. It would be great if an rpg creator was made in AutoIt! :D

That would be quite nice!

Game Maker is great for making games without any coding, but it is also great for intorducing the world of game creation to little kids who would love to make their own video game. I use it, just for fun.

I get an error when trying to run in V3. Then when i run in beta i get an error saying "unable to open map, MAPI"

You need to have the map file in the same folder as the script. If you do, I don't know what the problem is ...

I just tried it with the latest version of autoit and it gave two errors said that $WS_EX_MDICHILD was a "Variable being used without being declared" and the second was an error in expression on the line 296

wanted to try this.. :D too bad
