closeing handles

I was working on a script that needs to be able to access the CD-Rom tray and tell if it is open or closed and I found a good post on that here on the 8th post and it works great but the only problem is that it is opening a handle to the drive every time it runs. Does anyone know of any way to close this handle so that I won't end up with hunderds of handles.

I tried something almost identical to that before and I even used your exact function just a few mins ago and it returns a zero and leaves the handle open.

This works for me, corrected return type

It doesn't look like this is working with the current version. What needs to be done?

int_ptr usage in DLLCall was deprecated.

I'm adding a bunch of error checking routines to my app right now and there seems to be a problem with this function correcting the drive status. If in CD mode (in my app...using wmp objects), if I press play while the tray is open, and then press play when I close the tray, the player no longer works and I can't see any of the CD files in explorer until I restart my app; opening and closing the tray once this happens doesn't resolve the issue either.

Process:

1/ Press play (CD)---Everything is fine, status shows as READY

2/ Press pause---Everything is fine, status shows as READY

3/ Open tray

4/ Press play---Status shows as NOTREADY, displays the error that it should stating the tray is opened

5/ Close tray

6/ Press play---Status now shows as UNKNOWN. Now functions dependent on the status being READY wont work, and CD files aren't shown in explorer even when I press refresh. However, other apps are still able to play the CD.

If I don't press play while the tray is open, this problem wont happen...which kind of defeats the purpose of this error checking. What could be the problem? Is there anyway to "jumpstart" the CDROM and get it back into READY mode?
