Tidy - backup files

4 posts in this topic

Can the settings be set for tidy to allow how you want to name/keep backups - there seems to be a new version that puts the files in a backup directory and the overwrites the next day. I would like to add the date stamp directory as well. This may have been fixed, and I just thought about it again today, as there are some files that I would like to keep different versions of.

Not sure I understand what you are saying here but Tidy keeps the last x files in a backup directoiry as defined in tidy.ini. No relation to Date or anything:

*** Keep x Version of the File before the Tidy run and optionally store them in SubDirectory "\Backup"

KeepNVersions=5

Was that changed when the sub directory was added - before the files were just renamed with a number at the end and in the same directory that the file was being tidied with - unlimited number?. What I was asking for, is what you gave me. I just wanted to keep more versions of the file, and did not know where to look. Thanks for your help.

Nothing was changed to the logic of the backup filenames as far as I remember.....

In the beginning there was not a limitation option and all backups were kept... but this option has been available for a while doh ...
