I don't follow...

What version of AutoIt are you using?

Do you mean the native AutoIt function ShellExecute?

Cheers,

Brett

Yes that native function, because when I call it, it says Function Not Defined

So I would like the code so I can define it.

Thanks.

Basically I just need my program to open up a txt file with notepad, when I click the button for it. I read using ShellExecute was the way to go about it, but maybe there is an alternative method to do this? My button code is fine, i just need the one line to open the file in notepad like this:

ShellExecute("MyTextFile.txt", "", @ScriptDir)

Upgrade your fucking installation. ShellExecute() has been in the language for 2 years. Not upgrading in two years makes you exempt from any form of support as far as I'm concerned.

Basicaly, this is the same as ShellExecute:

Run(@ComSpec & ' /c Start "" "MyTextFile.txt"', @ScriptDir, @SW_HIDE)

Or we can use the API directly (if AutoIt version supports Dll* funcs :D ):

_ShellExecuteEx(@WindowsDir & "\Win.ini")

Func _ShellExecuteEx($sCmd, $sArgs = "", $sFolder = "", $sVerb = "", $iState = @SW_SHOWNORMAL, $hWnd = 0)
    Local $stINFO = DllStructCreate("long;long;long;ptr;ptr;ptr;ptr;long;long;long;ptr;long;long;long;long")
    Local $stVerb = DllStructCreate("char[15];char")
    Local $stPath = DllStructCreate("char[255];char")
    Local $stArgs = DllStructCreate("char[255];char")
    Local $stWDir = DllStructCreate("char[255];char")

    DllStructSetData($stVerb, 1, $sVerb)

    DllStructSetData($stPath, 1, $sCmd)
    DllStructSetData($stWDir, 1, $sFolder)
    DllStructSetData($stArgs, 1, $sArgs)

    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 1, DllStructGetSize($stINFO))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 2, BitOR(0xC, 0x40, 0x400))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 3, $hWnd)
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 4, DllStructGetPtr($stVerb))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 5, DllStructGetPtr($stPath))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 6, DllStructGetPtr($stArgs))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 7, DllStructGetPtr($stWDir))
    DllStructSetData($stINFO, 8, $iState)

    Local $aRet = DllCall("Shell32.dll", "int", "ShellExecuteEx", "ptr", DllStructGetPtr($stINFO))
    If Not IsArray($aRet) Or Not $aRet[0] Then Return SetError(2, 0, 0)

    Return 1
EndFunc

We are again surrounded by "Them" and you know the "Them" that I refer to. Actually if you really want to screw him up just pm him the code for ShellExecute().
