Open Local Files in IE

When running the following code, line 3 causes $script_browser to no longer be an Internet Explorer object, which you can see in the error messages caused by lines 5 & 7.

#include <IE.au3>
$script_browser = _IECreate()
_IENavigate($script_browser, @ScriptDir& "\step1.html")
Sleep(2500)
_IENavigate($script_browser, @ScriptDir& "\step2.html")
Sleep(2500)
_IENavigate($script_browser, @ScriptDir& "\step3.html")

--> IE.au3 V2.4-0 Error from function _IENavigate, $_IEStatus_InvalidObjectType
--> IE.au3 V2.4-0 Error from function _IENavigate, $_IEStatus_InvalidObjectType

Try adding #RequireAdmin at the top of your script and see if that works for you.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

That did the trick! Is this the only way to have local files open in IE?

From the help file for _IENavigate:

New security in Windows Vista causes a new browser window to be created when a browser is instructed to navigate to a URL in a different security zone. This occurs as well with the initial creation and navigation initiated with _IECreate. The new window is a new browser instance and the previous browser object variable no longer points to it. There are several workarounds: 1) add #RequireAdmin to your code (this is required even if the account is part of the Administrator's Group and will propmt for credentials if necessary), 2) use _IEAttach to connect to the new browser window 3) add the target website to the Trusted Sites security zone in IE, 4) turn off "Protected Mode" in IE, or 5) disable UAC. Care must be taken to understand the implications of disabling IE security features when accessing untrusted sites.

      Hello
      I have a query please
      It is about windows file explorer
      If i design a tool in autoit language to delete files for example
      and i  added it in the context menu in File Explorer
      If i right-click on any file And you choose the tool, it will be get the path of the selected file or folder
      The problem here is
      If i select a set of files or folders
      it only detect the first one
      The code that i  used is
      if $CMDLine[0] = 0 then
      msgBox(16, "error", "you don't selecte any files")
      exit
      else
      for $i = 1 to $CMDLine[0]
      msgBox(0, "files", $CMDLine[$i]
      next
      endIf
      exit

      Files Checklist
      Just a simple little (complex enough) program I whipped up, for a purpose ... but only too happy to share.
      It can of course be modified to do more, but at the moment just compares file names with or without path ... Location versus Checklist.
      There are of course other compare programs out there, most doing a lot more than mine (i.e. WinMerge or FileComparer). But I wanted something quick and simple with drag & drop, that uses up a smallish amount of screen real estate.
      NOTE - The SAVE button is also a LOAD one, and displays 'Load' when the list is empty. So you can save and load specific lists. While in SAVE mode, the button can also be used with CTRL held down, to ADD another list to existing (displayed one) ... combining as they say ... though not saved until you SAVE. CLEAR button removes a selected entry, or if used with CTRL held down, queries about removing all listed entries.

      Files Checklist v1.2.zip
      Files Checklist v1.3.zip
      Files Checklist v1.4.zip  (Includes a BUGFIX.)
        (source included)
      WARNING - While this program does not act on files or folders ADDED or CHECKED, you might act on the results, so I advise caution, and I also recommend using the new 'Relative' option in v1.3 or newer ... but you still need to understand what you are doing and what the results actually mean. Some basic examples in the next post.
      Enjoy!

      I have an aws cloud machine where I kept all the build process to create some set of zip files and uploading them to OneDrive.
      Once it is completed, I have another local machine in our environment which is a acting as a local share server also.
      Is there anyway to notify this machine(without public IP) to start downloading these files.
      I have written an AutoIT exe to download these files and copy them to respective locations.But don't know how to notify this from the remote machine.

      Any suggestion??
