Arnicus Posted February 16, 2016 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Is it possible to use _Crypt_DecryptData to decrypt a string that was encrypted using _StringEncrypt? I haven't been having any luck with it. The documentation for _StringEncrypt says it uses RC4 encryption, but the following is not doing the trick when I feed it something that was encrypted by _StringEncrypt. Local $bDecrypted = _Crypt_DecryptData(GUICtrlRead($g_idInputEdit), "MyPassword", $CALG_RC4) Local $bDecryptedString = BinaryToString($bDecrypted, 1) Am I doing something wrong, or am I just trying to do something that isn't possible? spudw2k Posted February 16, 2016 Share Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) According to the version history (v3.3.10.0 - Dec 23, 2013): _StringEncrypt() documentation has been removed. The function is still present in String.au3, but may be removed at a later date. Scripts should be updated to use the Crypt functions instead. Look at _Crypt_EncryptData() for an example of an alternative _StringEncrypt. Unfortunately, I've got old files running around that have encrypted text in them that was created with _StringEncrypt. jchd Posted February 17, 2016 Share Posted February 17, 2016 _StringEncrypt and friends is (was) buggy as hell and is incompatible with the now-correct _Crypt_* functions. So your best bet is to use the buggy _StringDecrypt to read back olf stuff to plaintext then switch to _Crypt* functions from there on.
