Function conversion from obsoleted

Recommended Posts

Just wondering .., what did the first parameter represent in _StringEncrypt

Will something like this do - for the conversion

Thanks

#include <Crypt.au3>

$sString = ("Some string")
ConsoleWrite(_StringEncrypt(1, $sString, "key") & @CRLF)

Func _StringEncrypt($vSomevar, $vData, $vCryptKey, $CALG_USERKEY = 0)
    If Not $CALG_USERKEY Then $CALG_USERKEY = $CALG_AES_256
    Local $g_hKey = _Crypt_DeriveKey($vCryptKey, $CALG_USERKEY)
    Local $bEncrypted = _Crypt_EncryptData($vData, $g_hKey, $CALG_USERKEY)
    _Crypt_DestroyKey($g_hKey) ; Destroy the cryptographic key.
    _Crypt_Shutdown() ; Shutdown the crypt library.
    Return $bEncrypted
EndFunc   ;==>_StringEncrypt

Why are you trying to recreate it?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

BrewManNH,
I encountered it a few times with older scripts but haven't yet get the chance to make a conversion of it
Now I'm looking to make a password manager and was trying out the script  from this post

Danyfirex,
Thanks, so I'm guessing my conversion is a OK

Don't forget to recreate the _StringDecrypt function as well, or all this is moot.
