OxyTJ Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I am trying to find a string within a multi-line textbox, however the following command returns 0 if the string is not found or if it happens to be the first line in the textbox: $index = ControlCommand("New / Open File","",13,"FindString",$string) After doing some googling, someone suggested using the _GUICtrlListBox_FindString command, however, this only returns 0 every time. I am assuming it is because I do not create a gui first, but I pass in the same controlId (13) as I did in the code above. I do not want to create a new gui, I'm working with different software that already has the textbox created. I know its id is 13. Any recommendations?
Nine Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Hi OxyTJ, welcome to AutoIt forums. First, you must know that it is very hard to debug one god dam line of code . So to help us, we gonna need you to run au2info.exe over your control in the window. Make a print screen of the whole thing showing the control id. Second, you will also need to give us more than one line of code. I suggest you start by getting the handle of the window, We will need some debug information around that line (like the result of the lines along with @error ; use controlwrite or msgbox for it) “They did not know it was impossible, so they did it” ― Mark Twain Spoiler Block all input without UAC Save/Retrieve Images to/from Text Monitor Management (VCP commands) Tool to search in text (au3) files Date Range Picker Virtual Desktop Manager Sudoku Game 2020 Overlapped Named Pipe IPC HotString 2.0 - Hot keys with string x64 Bitwise Operations Multi-keyboards HotKeySet Recursive Array Display Fast and simple WCD IPC Multiple Folders Selector Printer Manager GIF Animation (cached) Debug Messages Monitor UDF Screen Scraping Round Corner GUI UDF Multi-Threading Made Easy Interface Object based on Tag

That was completely unnecessary to respond that way. Also, the smiley doesn't make it any less rude, just you trying to be snarky.
