run CMD file as a administrator

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

i have Windows 10.

i tried to run my CMD file (service.cmd):

sc config Fax start= disabled

via my program "runTEST.exe" that i created with Autoit.

I run that program as a administrator  (also with #RequireAdmin)

but the service has not changed. If i run that CMD program manually, service is successfully changed.

Simply code of my runTEST.exe:

#RequireAdmin
#Region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
#AutoIt3Wrapper_Outfile=runTEST.Exe
#EndRegion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
Run("service.cmd","C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest")

I really tried many ways that i found on autoit forum, but i can´t find way that works for me well..

Anyone any idea how to easily solve my problem? Thanks a lot.

You should use the full path and file name of the service.cmd file when you use the Run command.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I have runTEST.exe and service.cmd in one folder.

I added full path:

#RequireAdmin
#Region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
#AutoIt3Wrapper_Outfile=runTEST.Exe
#EndRegion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
Run("C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest\service.cmd","C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest")

but without result. Anyone any sollution, please?

You have no error handling, nor do you check for PID, if it is valid.  Read help file about run function and check its return value and @error value also.  ProcessWaitClose should also be added after the run (after all error handling I mean).

So i have this:

#RequireAdmin
#Region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
#AutoIt3Wrapper_Outfile=runTEST.Exe
#EndRegion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
$result = Run("C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest\service.cmd","C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest")
msgbox(0,"",$result & @crlf & @error)

But the "Run" line returns 0 and @error = 1 (that from helpfile means failure)

OT, but anyway: This way $Result is returning the PID of your "SERVICE.CMD"

To get the result code, use runwait()

;~ $PID = Run("C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest\service.cmd","C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest")
$result = RunWAIT("C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest\service.cmd","C:\Users\IvoJR\Desktop\runTest")
msgbox(0,"",$result & @crlf & @error)
