In the latest beta you can use -1 as last parameter on FileReadLine function...

Nice, but will that read the last line if there's no @LF?

The problem I have it that the following code:

$fil = FileOpen("notes.txt",0)
DO
   $lin = FileReadLine($fil)
   $err = @error
   $lin = StringStripWS($lin,7)
   IF ... THEN
      ... do stuff
   ENDIF
UNTIL NOT ($err==0)

Reads the entire file but not the last line if the file 'simply ends' and doesn't have a @LF or @CR or EOF.

Or you can use a function that is allready made for this.

Just create a test.txt file with a few lines of text.

$file = "test.txt"
$CountLines = _FileCountLines($file)
If $CountLines = 0 Then
    ConsoleWrite("Either file is empty or no file found."&@CRLF)
Else
    ConsoleWrite(FileReadLine($file,$CountLines)&@CRLF)
EndIf

Your solution doesn't work.

Not sure why I did the following:

#include <file.au3>

MsgBox(0,"test",_FileCountLines($file))

Result: -21316

Got it working now. Thanks for helping out.

_FileCountLines didn't work because it assumes @LF, but my notes.txt file uses @CRLF.

Got a workaround using StringLen($file)-StringLen(StringReplace($file,@CRLF," "))
