Tyranlol
Hi, I've searched the forum for a while, looking for a simple way to check if computer is connected to the public internet, and i have failed. All i found was detecting LAN, disabling LAN, etc.. Any simple ways to do this task? thanks in advance TyranLoL Only by Attempting the Impossible You Can Earn the Remarkable

BrewManNH
Use the Ping function to query a known working address. I tend to use google.com or yahoo.com for this. If you can't ping it, the function returns 0, if it can reach it the number returned will be anything but 0. If it returns 0 after you try, read the @error value to find out why it didn't work. I can't think of any easier way to test to see if you're on the internet than that. Checking whether or not your NIC is connected to something, or has an IP address isn't very reliable because you can have both and still not be connected to the internet. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day.
