I am wondering if there is a waitforelement function for ie equivalent in autoit script?

What do you exactly want to accomplish? If you want to wait for a Window to appear, try WinWaitActive() function.

I need to wait for a field in the url site to appear, meaning loading the site page. I think there is a function in visual basic but was wondering if there is a similar function.

WinWaitActive is for non internet application.

_IELoadWait doesn't do what you need?

Then use _IEGetObjByName in a loop to check that the object exists.
