Creating a search from a wordlist

I'm trying to create a search list similar to the one from everquest.allakhazam.com , where when you click over to the search bar it will find the closest match or the match itself..

Than once you click it you can somehow open data on this image in another window

like lets say i searched for

"Pants of the Gnome" , it would then after clicking open a window that had information on this certain item.

I am having so much problems with this and i can't seem to figure out a way to do it with java and xml..

Any help gladly appreciated
