Question about a script I tried to open

I received an Autoit script from someone, I wanted to try to edit it to fix it a bit. The problem is, is that when I open it in SciTE it shows nothing but weird text every where. Is this is some sort of encrypted script or is there something I'm doing wrong?

It might be a a3x encoded script. I can only guess as I do not see any evidence to base a reliable verdict on.
