Hi

I'm trying to show and hide a Gui but if another application is open, it gets interrupted, mini zed and the GUI of my app is shown, is there a way to show hide the GUI without interrupting another application that is active?

the code i was using to show hide GUI:gui:

GUISetState (@SW_SHOW, $handle )
GUISetState (@SW_HIDE , $handle )

i also tried @SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE instead of @SW_SHOW but it does not work, or i'm using it wrong =/

How are you getting the handle of the window?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

sorry for not being clear,

if I have a window active, like word, exel, anything, then the script that run in the background with a hidden GUI, gets an msg and need to show me the msg, then it does the following

_WinAPI_FlashWindowEx ( $handle ,2, 20)
    If $GUIState = 0 Then
        $GUIState = 1
        GUISetState ( @SW_SHOW, $handle )
        GUISetState ( @SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE , $handle )
    EndIf

so what happens is the GUI of the background script get shown, and takes the focus of the window i'm working on away to the background script's GUI =/
What i want it to do instead is show the GUI and minimize it, or show it minimized directly, without taking the focus away from the current active window, whenever its is word firefox or any other app,

the following line,  GUISetState ( @SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE , $handle )  does not work because the GUI is hidden and it seems that the GUI needs to be visible before it can minimize, and GUISetState ( @SW_SHOW, $handle ) take the focus away of current active window and I need an alternative for this one to show the GUI without activating the focus on it

You can retrieve the current active window handle with:

_WinAPI_GetForegroundWindow

And the control with focus thanks to:

ControlGetFocus

when you processing the message, before showing the background app, you have to save those datas and when you have shown the hide app you can give back the focus to the original control with:

ControlFocus

You can retrieve the current active window handle with:

_WinAPI_GetForegroundWindow

WinGetHandle("") should also do that.

Have you tried it using exactly the same as I posted? ;)

I've tried it and it shows exatly the same handle :idiot:  it should be added to its reference!

You could also use WinGetHandle("[ACTIVE]") which is maybe a little more "logical".
