You should post a runnable code

Did you put Opt("GUIOnEventMode", 1) at the top of the script ?

          Switch GUIGetMsg()
               Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

                     Exit
          EndSwitch

Won't work, the OP is using OnEvent mode.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Can you show us the code you have, so that we may see how you have done it?

Otherwise,

GUISetOnEvent($GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, "Quit")

Func Quit()
   Exit
EndFunc
