Did you add any plugins to Excel recently, such as the Foxit reader plugin? Have you added/uninstalled any software recently? The error indicates an RPC error.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Which version of AutoIt do you run?
Which version of Excel do you run?
Which bitness of Excel do you run (32 or 64 bit)?

Maybe your problem is described here.

  • My excel was in edit mode, which was causing the error.

Just upgraded to the latest version of AutoIT

Always happens on the second spreadsheet opened regardless of file opened, first spreadsheet opens fine

Now you open Workbook1 and then Workbook2. Does the error occur if you change the sequence to Workbook2 and then Workbook1?

Just changed $bvisible from false to true and problem went away. The only difference execution wise from yesterday is that today Excel is opening on my secondary display and yesterday it was opening on my primary laptop display, weird
