status box message UDF - possible?

Is it possible to have a UDF (secondary script that's referenced on a main script through an #include) that displays a status box that can be updated with status messages from the main script?  reason is i often find myself creating GUIs and While Loops on scripts only for status update boxes.  Would be nice to be able to have the main script call on the UDF to display a GUI and send text updates to it.  Just want to see if its possible before I even try.

Please let me know if this isn't clear.

Did you have a look at the Splash* functions that come with the AutoIt package?
