return value

I am a newbie and very impressed with this powerful tool. However, throughout the doc the term "return value" is used but I am unable to find the variable in which that value is stored. For example, if I use msgbox (1,...) in a Do ... Until loop what variable will contain the return value of "1" after the user presses "cancel"? I apologize for asking such a basic question, but I've been reading for hours and have been unable to locate the answer in the text, in example scripts or the syntax examples. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to AutoIt and the forum! A good place to start learning AutoIt is the help file and the Wiki.

The return value isn't assigned to a specific variable (like @error or @extended). It gets assigned to a variable you choose.

Like:

$Result = Msgbox(....)
