Strip off .exe, .msi , etc. from filename

Hi All,

I am stumped! For an application that I am putting together I need to input a filename, and strip off the . and the extension. For example, for a file name of test.exe, i need the result to be test, and for test.exe /silent /no reboot, I need the result to be test.

Simply, anything to the right of the dot needs to be removed.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I know you've found the soultion but in WinAPIEx.au3 by Yashied there is _WinAPI_PathRemoveExtension() or you can look at _PathSplit() too.

Search WinAPIEx.au3 on the forum, it's a UDF produced by Yashied, so you'll have to add to the include folder located in the installation path of AutoIt e.g. C:\Program Files\AutoIt.

so you'll have to add to the include folder located in the installation path of AutoIt

I would suggest using the technique outlined in the Adding UDFs to AutoIt and SciTE tutorial in the Wiki in preference to using the default installation folder. :graduated:
