I am trying to improve the security on my system by disabling my CD and USB drives, (which can be done by device manager though its a bit of a fuss ^^)

I was wondering if there is any way for Autoit to disable and re enable devices ? and if there is any damage done by doing this ?

Look at using DevCon perhaps?

Thanks i will look into the UDF, i remember seeing the DevCon post but i dislike using software and stuff. I much perfer trying to keep everything within autoit if possible :D

OK, perhaps look at using WMI and the class Win32_SystemDriver. If you're not familiar with WMI or how to create the correct syntax, then have a look at Scriptomatic (search the forum) it will give you an example of how to correctly create AutoIt syntax for calling the class.

Note: I haven't tried Win32_SystemDriver, it was something I came across via googling around.

hmm looking into those things this is turning into a some-what larger project then i have time for atm :D i will have to leave it on the side until my uni deadlines r over i think
