PRM Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 For windows softwares the "AUTOIT WINDOW TOOL" gives all the information about that window(ID,title, class etc) using which we can automate installation procedure. I want to automate installation procedure of a software which is not windows software. For this software the "AUTOIT WINDOW TOOL"gives no information, so will this automation possible? For windows software I have successfully automated the installation procedure. Thanks.
Chimaera Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Autoit is for windows only. You will need to find a different path to automate for other than windows If Ive just helped you ... miracles do happen. Chimaera CopyRobo() * Hidden Admin Account Enabler * Software Location From Registry * Find Display Resolution * _ChangeServices()
PRM Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 @chimaera : so there is no any way through AUTOIT to automate that third party software, right?
Chimaera Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Ok does the software run on windows? When you say software which is not windows software. do you mean Linux/Mac? Or do you mean not made by Windows? As long as it runs on a windows pc you can generally automate it If it runs on a different machine Linux Unix Mac etc you will need different type of coding If Ive just helped you ... miracles do happen. PRM Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 I mean the software not made by windows... Yes,the software runs on windows... please suggest topics to be referred for this....
water Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 In the latest AutoIt version 3.3.8.0 the Window Info tools has been enhanced. When you click on Options -> Use Spy++ Control Detection Logic you can decide how the tool detects controls. Maybe this returns better results. It would help a lot if you could give us the name of the tools you try to automate. BrewManNH Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 There is a lot of software that AutoIt can't automate directly. You may end up having to use ControlSend instead of ControlClick to send keystrokes to the window, which is unreliable. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Moderators Melba23 Posted February 1, 2012 Moderators Posted February 1, 2012 RohitMore,As you refuse to tell us the name of this "not windows software" I can only assume that you are not doing so because it is something that you know we would not approve of you automating. Prove me wrong in the next 5 minutes or this thread gets locked. And sending me a PM just now refusing to tell me the name does not help your case at all!
